What changes in your skin when the heat comes on
Indoor heating pulls water out of the air and out of your skin. A few small changes keep it from turning tight and flaky.

Every October the same thing happens in the studio. Clients who were fine all summer come in with tight cheeks, flaking around the nose and makeup that suddenly sits on the surface.
Why it happens
Warm indoor air holds less moisture, and your skin gives up water to it all day. The barrier that keeps water in also gets thinner when you keep using the same exfoliants you used in August.
What to change
Swap a foaming cleanser for a cream or milk. Use acids two nights a week instead of four. Add a moisturiser with ceramides and apply it to damp skin, so it has water to hold on to.
If your skin stings when you apply products you have used for years, stop the actives entirely for two weeks. That is usually the barrier asking for a break.
